Short Description

A promising approach to integrating computational thinking into high school mathematics classrooms is to engage students in mathematical modeling (MM) using programming languages. 19 high school math teachers’ views on this approach and related aspects were captured in the context of a three-day workshop designed to introduce teachers to curriculum modules focused on MM with R programming. Findings revealed the trends in education and school-wide movements like increased data analysis across the curriculum presented opportunities.
