We want to stoke the flames of innovation and offer educators practical solutions to the challenges they face teaching online. Our empirical research paper outlines tools educators and instructional designers used in their university courses and what they learned about engaging students online. Tools include Roblox, Flipside, Plotogon, Canvas, and Perusall. We evaluate evidence-based practices surrounding cognitive load, instructor presence and visual design.
