The role of social media in the global society and economy has increased substantially over the years across different populations, age groups, and contexts. Social media literacy skills influence risks and opportunities with implications for the individual and broader society, making it a consequential education research topic. Building on existing knowledge, the findings of this systematic literature review propose reflections and transformations regarding how Critical Social Media Literacy skills can be developed and supported.
