We apply the invisible labor model developed through our previous systematic literature review to interrogate two of our own published articles on teachers’ self-directed professional development with social media. We observe background labor, care labor, identity labor, and non-traditional sphere labor in both articles, and the intersections between these types of invisibility. We discuss ways to apply this model to make educators’ invisible labor visible and promote more equitable acknowledgment and evaluation of educators’ work.
