Student engagement in a blended learning is fostered by satisfying three innate needs identified in self-determination theory: autonomy, relatedness, and competence. Related studies have emphasized teacher but not digital, needs support. This study proposed digital support designs and examined their effectiveness, and involved 426 Grade 11 students. The findings are the digital support better engaged students, teacher support was closely related to student engagement, and the relationship between digital support and student engagement varied.
