This paper first summarizes the status of and trends in global and local MOOCs providers and participants. Second, it reveals the results of a study that explores the factors effecting the lifelong learners’ motivation to complete MOOCs with a cultural and contextual perspective. It might be beneficial for those who are interested in the current status of MOOCs movement, as well as role of cultural and contextual factors on MOOCs completion.
