Trauma can have a detrimental impact on a student’s ability to learn and engage in educational settings. Considering the prevalence of trauma in children, some statistics showing up to two thirds being impacted, there is a need for a trauma-informed approach to design. During this presentation, we will discuss equity-focused online education in the context of systems thinking and give instructors tools to lessen the effect of trauma on learning in asynchronous online settings.
