How It's Taught and What Students Learned: A Study of Approaches to Teaching Cultural Proficiency

Mon, Oct 16, 8:00 to 8:50am EDT (8:00 to 8:50am EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Gold Coast IV

Short Description

To prepare students to provide inclusive patient care, many graduate programs across allied health sciences have introduced classroom training on cultural proficiency and clinical rotations in underserved communities. However, little is known about these experiences from a pedagogical lens. This mixed-methods study sought to catalog students’ encounters with and perspectives on CP training and explore how classroom and community-based learning experiences contributed to developing CP knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
