Can ChatGPT Produce Quality Learning Objectives? An Investigation

Short Description

This presentation investigates the use of ChatGPT to produce quality learning objectives for instructional designers. We queried ChatGPT to create specific, measurable learning objectives. We developed a seven-category rubric to evaluate the quality of the learning objectives and establish inter-rater reliability. Findings indicate ChatGPT can produce learning objectives when provided with appropriate prompts, although the level of quality varies across the seven categories. Areas for future research are discussed.
