What Type of Paper Are You Writing? A Taxonomy of Review and Theory Scholarship Distinguished by Their Summary and Advocacy Arguments

Wed, Oct 18, 2:30 to 3:20pm EDT (2:30 to 3:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Sun & Surf III

Short Description

Secondary research includes a variety of methodologies including meta-analyses, systematic reviews, bibliometric/citation analysis, integrated analysis, literature syntheses, theoretical frameworks and conceptual arguments. These various kinds of secondary research papers place emphasis, at different levels, on two arguments about the literature: a summary argument and an advocacy argument. In this presentation, we will discuss these two key arguments and the differences/similarities between the various types of review and theory articles.
