This scoping review focuses on how self-efficacy is measured in game-based learning environments. It examined 29 peer-reviewed journal articles that measured self-efficacy as a dependent or an independent variable in a game-based learning intervention. This study provides insight into the general trends of how these measurements are being used to access the concept of self-efficacy and urges future research to employ optimal research methods used in relation to this topic.
