The purpose of this study is to examine how students’ reported social presence evolved over time in a cohort system. Furthermore, we considered how students’ social presence influenced peers interaction pattern in an online learning community across subsequent courses. To do so, we used longitudinal network analysis of analyzed peer-nominations and social presence levels of students enrolled in three consecutive courses. This study discusses the practical implications of the interpretations of social presence for research.
