This study conducted a three-round design to explore the use of design-based research (DBR) in the flipped classroom. Information technology-based interaction analysis system was used to analyze the frequency of teacher-student interactions and lag sequence analysis was applied to analyze sequence characteristics. Results showed that DBR approach successfully increased the proportion of teacher’s indirect influence and the frequency of technology use, and promoted a shift in the sequence from IR to IRF - RF.
