The current practice of usability research within the field of LDT is problematic. Firstly, selected usability instruments are primarily borrowed from the field of HCI which do not account for learning-specific features. Secondly, attempts to develop new instruments for learning technologies largely have failed to follow formal procedures, leading to concerns regarding the quality of results. This study seeks to examine constructs and psychometric properties of existing usability instruments that have been applied evaluating learning technologies.
