18. Developing Curriculum-Aligned Science Learning Simulations and Games: Graduate Students and Science Teachers Collaboration

Sun, Oct 15, 4:15 to 5:45pm EDT (4:15 to 5:45pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Seminole Ballroom

Short Description

Simulations and games have emerged as powerful tools for providing students with interactive and engaging learning experiences. Developing effective simulations and games, however, requires expertise in instructional design, subject matter, and technology. This presentation reports on how groups of graduate students in a capstone instructional technology class collaborated with science teachers in developing curriculum-aligned science learning simulations and games. The development process and pilot results of three science simulations and games will be presented.
