From Police Cars to Break Rooms to Virtual Chatrooms: Enhancing Police Students’ Learning with a Blended Apprenticeship in Taiwan

Wed, Oct 18, 1:30 to 2:20pm EDT (1:30 to 2:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Space Coast II

Short Description

This study investigated police students’ learning experiences in a mandatory blended six-week apprenticeship in Taiwan. The community of inquiry survey was administrated, and a semi-structured interview was conducted to investigate students’ learning experiences. Findings suggest that the blended apprenticeship enhanced students’ competences. The interactions between the students and their mentors and peers in the break rooms and virtual chatrooms also positively impacted their learning and strengthened their relationships with their peers and mentors.
