This study investigated the effects of immersion on various learning and motivational outcomes in virtual reality (VR) science learning. The level of immersion was implemented through delivery format (desktop vs. Oculus) and ambient sound (yes vs. no). Participants completed the study in four groups, i.e., desktop VR with or without sound and Oculus VR with or without sound. No group difference was detected on the intended outcomes. All groups significantly improved their perceptions of self-efficacy.
