While teacher stress is widely acknowledged (Bertoch, Nielsen, Curley, & Borg, 1989), few studies have investigated the idea that both perceptions of demands and resources need to be considered together when investigating individual perceptions of stress (Moore, 2007). This study builds on data collected from high school teachers by Lambert, McCarthy, Crowe and McCarthy (2010), who investigated teachers’ personal resources for stress prevention, classroom demands and resources, job satisfaction, and intention to leave their field. The current study extends this research by replicating it with teachers in Texas and by examining teachers’ perceptions of stress caused by diversity-related issues with students, parents, and administrators.
