Scholars and international organizations in the field of the Culture of Peace reckon that education is a cornerstone in peacebuilding. However, there is a gap between theory and practice that widens when we look at compulsory education. In this study we present a tool that integrates the principles and standards of culture and peace education (framework) with the indicators and descriptors of good practice (instrumentation), in order to make the analysis of the contributions of curricular materials and school practices to the Culture of Peace possible. The instrument developed was empirically verified through the study of 11 textbooks, 27 interviews with school principals, 27 interviews with teachers, a questionnaire answered by 627 students aged 11-13, and 27 classroom observations.
