Abstract

Using the combination of case library search and blogging, this study explored teacher candidates’ technology integration. This qualitative study was conducted in a secondary general methods course in fall 2008. The participants included 34 secondary teacher candidates in an urban teacher education program at a southwestern state university. Findings of the study included: (a) teacher candidates developed Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), but did not meaningfully use technologies in their lesson planning; and (b) teacher candidates valued the KITE library as a source for TPACK application, but believed that blogging did not meaningfully help them to plan their lessons. Findings generated discussion about the conceptualization of TPACK and technology integration in teacher education.
