Participatory Action Research on the Development of Indigenous Education Partnerships in Taitung, Taiwan

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the partnership development between university and senior indigenous educators for the resource integration of manpower, curriculum, and facilities for indigenous cultural education in Amis, Bunun, and Paiwan regions in Taitung. The data was collected through focus group and interviewing, participant observation, and document collection. The findings are as followings:
1. Manpower integration: Improved the integration perspective of the 13 indigenous educators with the cross-school decision-making for the 2009-2011 plans.
2. Curriculum integration: Integrated diverse crafts learning activities with deeper history learning to become medium-term key points for integration in each ethic group.
3. Facilities integration: Promoted outstanding outcomes of newly established Indigenous Education Resource Classrooms; meanwhile renewed the facilities at existed classrooms with integrated budget.
