Abstract

This paper describes first year of implementation of a randomized controlled trial of a teacher professional development program. The goal of the professional development program is to improve teacher data literacy and use of collaborative inquiry and improve student math achievement. The Florida-based RCT uses a sample of grade 4 and 5 teachers and students in 60 elementary schools (30 treatment and 30 control) to generate a randomized sample. In the first year, data teams receive 6 full days of professional development and engage in data inquiry in their schools and classrooms.
