Abstract

Educational leadership students struggle with the development of a vision for leadership as they embark upon their careers. Unfamiliar with avenues for finding their vision, beliefs and values, however, they realize such elements are critical aspects of their future success as leaders. The implementation of the COE e-portfolio system has provided a platform for Educational Leadership students to articulate their views and begin to connect the theoretical knowledge and field experiences to their own understanding and assessment of future functioning as effective leaders. While traditional portfolios have been used to collect items or artifacts, this e-portfolio program introduces students to an integrative knowledge process that will enable them to self-assess, utilizing metacognitive reflection to further understand and develop their leadership
