Abstract

This study applies Critical Race Theory to the challenges facing leaders of three Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Using a phenomenological approach the study addresses the question What are some of the barriers HBCU presidents face as they endeavor to maintain, enhance and advance their respective institutions? Specifically, we are interested in how the leaders of three HBCUs make sense of their unique respective organizational contexts.
