In Aotearoa New Zealand, Pasifika children are over-represented in those learners who are 'traditionally under-served by New Zealand schooling'. This symposium presents the unique contribution of Pasifika researchers to the knowledge-base on culturally relevant education research that results in effective pedagogical practices. The presenters’ shared vision is in complete alignment with the Presidential Conference Theme – a vision that their work will influence “the actions of teachers, parents, community organisers…and government officials” in order to contribute to improved ways of life for Pasifika peoples, because “to know is not enough” (Ball, 2011).
