Session Submission Summary

The New Lives of Teachers

Sat, April 14, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, West Room 214

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium focuses upon Christopher Day and Qing Gu’s book The New Lives of Teachers, which is the outcome of a highly significant research project on teachers’ lives. Five presenters will offer critical comments on the project’s methods and outcomes. They will complement their critiques with suggestions for future research, as well as for how research on teachers’ lives can ramify into issues of educational leadership and teacher education. The presenters will base their comments on the book on their own research backgrounds, in order to generate a discussion in which multiple lines of inquiry on teachers’ lives can come into play. Day and Gu will have an opportunity to respond as part of the dialogue between presenters and audience.
