Session Submission Type: Symposium
Many schools all over the world implemented problem-based learning (PBL) in which students discuss problems in small groups under guidance of a tutor. Although it is known that feedback is a powerful tool for student learning, not yet much is known about the effects of feedback in PBL on student learning, whereas PBL offers many opportunities for providing feedback to students. In this symposium five studies are presented investigating the effects of tutor feedback and student peer feedback on student learning in problem-based curricula. Overall, these five studies demonstrate that tutor feedback and student peer feedback enhance student learning and academic achievement in PBL. A discussant will reflect upon the five studies presented during this symposium.
