Session Submission Summary

Technology Leadership for Successful Technology Integration in Education: In-Depth Studies Throughout the World

Sun, April 15, 8:15 to 10:15am, Sheraton Wall Centre, Floor: Fourth Level, North Port McNeill

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

In our quest to understand the conditions that best support the educational use of computers and internet applications in education, researchers have investigated individual teacher as well as district-level and school-level organizational conditions. Although described as the most important condition, how technology leadership concretely influences teacher practices has not been widely studied nor in detail. This international panel of researchers are currently investigating technology leadership, and provide additional data and nuanced understandings of this topic. The contributions shed light on the complexity of this condition, and illustrate not only that technology leadership must be understood as a district and school-level property, rather than associating it with particular leadership positions, but specifically how it is carried out in terms of practices.
