Session Submission Type: Symposium
Educational scholars argue that closing the achievement gap is impossible unless transformative leaders at all levels understand contextual complexities and work toward the dual goals of excellence and equity. The purpose of this symposium is to disseminate findings of empirical and theoretical perspectives that reveal on-the-ground practices of how a variety of educational leaders (principals, teachers and district leaders) understand, work within, and negotiate complex K-12 educational settings to meet the needs of diverse students in urban contexts.
