Session Submission Summary

Exploring Daily Social Transactions of Resilient Youth in Various Contexts Around the Globe

Sat, April 14, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, West Room 223

Session Submission Type: Symposium

Abstract

The aim of this symposium is to showcase an exchange about an innovative adaptation of a socio-ecological methodology for exploring youthful thriving of children and youth around the globe. We bring together an international interdisciplinary panel of researchers, working within a similar methodological paradigm to develop a deeper understanding of the range of possible avenues in the facilitation of resilience processes. We explore youth perceptions and community perspectives on what it means to do well under adverse circumstances in a range of cultures and contexts. We will exchange ideas on building a culturally-sensitive shared understanding of many paths to developmental well being in order to enhance contexts for human growth on a larger scale than previously achieved.
