Session Submission Type: Symposium
In Knowing What Students Know, Pellegrino et al. (2001) call for a tighter connection between learning, assessment and instruction. This requires both innovations and transformations of current psychometric principles and assessment designs, which build on current research of student learning and development (Binkley, et al. 2010). This symposium expands this triad to a tetrad, adding affect as a variable for consideration in assessment. The presenters provide technology rich examples of innovative assessments that add to our understanding of one or more sides of the structure. Research examples are provided using learning environments across disciplines and grade levels.
