Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
Today, education professionals working at the school, district, and state levels are encouraged—and often mandated—to base their policies and practices on the best available evidence generated by rigorous research. However, little is known about how school, district, or state officials acquire, interpret, and make use of research evidence or the factors that shape such processes. In this symposium, researchers will share findings that illustrate how research and other information flow among decision-makers at school, district, and state levels. Understanding how and why these social networks influence the use of research evidence can help us more effectively promote the use of education research and foster research that is accessible and relevant to education leaders’ work.
