Session Submission Type: Symposium
The Talent Quest Model (TQM) of schooling posits that educators should place students at promise for learning and achievement by engaging multiple pathways to educational success. The theoretical model holds that all children can learn in demanding educational settings, particularly when these settings are characterized by culturally relevant pedagogy and optimal interpersonal classroom transactions. This symposium will include presentations of current experimental research examining factors for their potential impact on student motivation and achievement. It is hoped that the results from these investigations will shed light on student engagement in learning and performance, and increase the quality of students’ overall schooling experience. Future research directions will be discussed.
