Division C New Directions Session: Bringing Research Into Practice

Abstract

With respect to this year’s theme, three recent award winning scholars will share their innovative work applying research to educational practice. Dr. Halverson’s current research highlights youth interaction with media and literacy. Dr. Yoon focuses on several lines of research including cognition, complex systems in education, and students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Both Dr. Halverson and Dr. Yoon are recipients of the Jan Hawkins Award for Early Career Contributions from Division C. Dr. Klassen, the 2011 recipient of the Richard E. Snow Early Career Award from the American Psychological Association Division 15 [Educational Psychology], utilizes his background in teaching and psychology to explore motivation and emotions in diverse contexts.
