Snapshots From “Postracial” and “Postcolonial” Americas: A Transnational Conversation

Abstract

This session will bring forward voices that are not often included or are marginalized on the Academy’s research and formal presentation agenda. In so doing, this session purposively seeks pluralistic engagement (e.g., across class, race, gender, sexuality, religion, language, and power) in an interactive discussion that illuminates points at issue and points of promise among and between different pan-ethnic groups. Presenters will trouble current discourses around concepts of 'post-racial' and 'post-colonial,' including their personal and professional experiences that speak to the program theme, "To Know is not Enough."
