In this symposium we present the state of affairs regarding the research on the use of ICT in the
pedagogical practices of teachers in Belgium and in the Netherlands. The research concentrates on
identifying the promoting and impeding factors that influence the use of ICT. The first paper focused on the motivational and dispositional factors that affect teachers’ intention to use digital learning materials. The second paper found four promoting conditions at the school and teacher level for fostering popular ICT use in primary education. The last paper investigated whether pre-service teachers’ perceptions of their ICT knowledge and skills affect their attitude toward ICT which, in turn, may affect their use of ICT in education.
