A Dialogue on Environmental Learning and Experience

Abstract

The proposed symposium will highlight how various education stakeholders have worked together to influence and set Education policy in the area of environmental education. The proposed paper will merge important information about inclusive forms of research which empower practicioners while also meeting the policy objectives of regional and provincial government authorities. The outcome of this research program has influenced educational policy at the Metro Vancouver and BC Provincial levels.



"To know is not enough ..." The symposium highlights the need for pragmatism in conducting policy related research in schools and for grounding research problems in the real world problems of teachers and other education stakeholders. The major research outcome was to develop a policy statment which was adopted by the BC MInistry of Education and is informing educational developments in the province.
