This presentation explores a study framed within an Aboriginal methodological approach of community-based storytelling. The purpose of the research was to engage members of Paqtnkek in workshops designed to facilitate the creation of a visual history of their community using photographs, oral narratives and digital stories. This study was truly “community-based” as every family was represented in the movies released to the community during a celebratory event. The key findings of this study will be presented. Prior to the viewing of community stories, award winning Mi’kmaq singer, Derrick Paulette will sing the Mi’kmaq Honour Song during a traditional drumming ceremony. Mi’kmaq Ethics Watch requires all work completed in the community to remain there and is owned by the author(s).
