Trust and Organizational Citizenship: Moderating the Effects of School Socioeconomic Status

Fri, April 13, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, East Room 8&15

Abstract

This investigation examines three facets of faculty trust and organizational citizenship in 112 elementary schools. The general hypothesis that elements of faculty trust would combine to provide a significant set of predictors of organizational citizenship was confirmed. However, although also hypothesized, trust in the principal did not emerge as the best predictor of organizational citizenship. Instead, trust in colleagues and trust in clients emerged as statistically significant predictors of organizational citizenship. The results of the investigation also shed new light on two school social variables that moderate the effects of socioeconomic status.
