The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive evaluation for various models of algebra word problem solving proposed in the literature. The evaluation will be conducted over a common measurement scale constructed on data collected from a large collection of algebra word problems. Results from empirical evaluation will be further justified by referring to relevant theories. The ultimate goal of this evaluation is to synthesize and derive an integrated, theory-driven construct model that serves as the substantive foundation for the explanatory scale of quantitative reasoning as measured by algebra word problems.
