Mon, April 16, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom B

Abstract

The current study examines the utility and application of student drawings as a unique and valuable educational research and reflection tool. Examining a number of approaches and techniques, the presentation will highlight examples from different studies whereby student drawings were analyzed over time to demonstrate changes in teaching and learning over time. Researchers will detail perspectives and techniques for soliciting student drawings, applying a variety of different coding rubrics and techniques, and using the results to inform both practitioners and policymakers. Examples of student drawings and collected data will be culled from the authors’ international research examining the impacts of instructional technologies on teaching, learning and classroom ecology.
