Tue, April 17, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton Wall Centre, Floor: Third Level, South Finback

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine how community schools research is currently being used to improve education and serve the public good in a rural area in Town Valley, Honduras. After determining the impact of grassroots community schools in Honduran education by providing an in-depth analysis and description of a specific community school in the region I now intend to utilize this research and apply it to a small rural community. Findings are based on interviews, observations and journals from people’s experience with this research and the possibilities for Honduran education through community schooling. The sample includes 1 town major, 2 school administrators who work for the local schools, 2 teachers, and 6 parents of the community.
