This group will work with the larger project team to conduct empirical analyses toward the development of measures of teaching effectiveness that combine outcomes-based value-added measures of performance with inputs-based classroom video, teacher knowledge, and student perception data to create a single measure of teaching effectiveness and to validate these through our random experiment.
Multiple measures, as a concept, has already been adopted by several of the Race to the Top states. Until now, scant empirical evidence exists to guide the important task of assigning weights to the individual components. This presentation will discuss the methods, results, and likely consequences of various weighting schemes and suggest an optimal process to guide states and districts as they develop and refine their own multiple measures systems.
