The effect of an enrichment program on high-achieving high school students

Abstract

This study set out to follow the experience of two schools and their stakeholders as they embarked on an enrichment program in order to explore the relationship between capital and the role of the school in addressing the needs of able students. Data were drawn from interviews and observation of participants as well as document analysis of curriculum and communication between school, home, and the public. The study found that much of the motivation to enter the program came from parents as opposed to students; and International and local students had differing academic and social experiences within the program.
