This article examines young children’s role-play in an effort to develop methods with which teachers can enhance children’s interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences. This research was conducted in South Korea at a university laboratory school, which has implemented a curriculum based on the Multiple Intelligences theory. This research focused on a pod class which was designed to enhance personal intelligences in a qualitative manner. The pod class was composed of nine 3-5 year-old-children who were identified as gifted in interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences. How young children enhanced their personal intelligences through play and what specific areas of personal intelligences were developed are identified. Strategies to guide children’s personal intelligences and to use role-play for developing young children’s personal intelligences are discussed.
