Abstract

The use of Digital Storytelling in most educational contexts tends to focus on the digital story as the final product rather than an ongoing learning process. This paper presents the results of a doctoral dissertation research study, which attempted to approach Digital Storytelling from another perspective–the experiential aspect in creating a digital story. This inquiry sheds light on the activity as a process of negotiating for the choices presented in the story and of coping with challenges related to those choices. The knowledge of the complex experience of the storyteller revolving around the two key concepts of negotiation and challenge raises important implications for instruction and evaluation when Digital Storytelling is integrated in the curriculum.
