Abstract

The objective of this research is to highlight and enhance an underdeveloped story of college students of color during the Civil Rights Movement. Histories tend to document the actions and its consequences of a particular group while marginalizing the cross-racial/ethnic dynamics and relations that was consequential in securing a formidable voice for all students of color on college campuses. The proposed paper is significant because it addresses a current gap in the historicizing of student activism in the mid to late 1960s – namely Afro-Asian student solidarity. Lastly, it mines a significantly under examined source – student publications – for understanding attitudes, beliefs, and methods of resistance utilized by students.
