Abstract

This study evaluated the curricula of doctoral programs in adult education across the United States and Canada for the nine core topical areas of study at the doctoral level as found in the Commission of Professors of Adult Education’s (CPAE’s) document, “Standards for Graduate Programs in Adult Education” (2008). The results found the standards represented in the majority of the 37 doctoral programs analyzed. This study is the only known research to compare the 2008 version of the standards to graduate curricula, and these results are consistent with prior studies that compared doctoral curricula to the first version of the standards (adopted by CPAE in 1986).
