Global Studies in Education: Where We Have Been and Where We Are Going as a Field of Study

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the origins and future directions of the emerging field of Global Studies in Education. Following a literature review of the origins of the field, the author highlights the current state of the field and potential areas for growth that have been defined by a group of K-12 practitioners who have participated in graduate studies in Global Studies in Education. The interviews with the practitioners focus both on the ways in which they have changed their own practices as well as what they feel they have yet to learn. This study is also then placed in the overarching field of Global Studies.
