The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Pre-Kindergarten (K4) curriculum program implemented by the Milwaukee Public School District (MPS) during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years. The evaluation was designed to determine the immediate impacts of the K4 literacy and math programs on the academic achievement and school readiness of students. Additionally, this study was designed to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the program and the instructional practices used by K4 teachers impacting program implementation. For this evaluation, the research questions focused on K4 assessment scores and data from K4 teachers participating in the curriculum program. Results are still being compiled and no conclusions have yet been formulated, but preliminary results reveal a positive outlook.
